As expected, the Fed didn’t raise interest rates today. It would be great if it kept doing nothing all year but that is unlikely to happen. Instead, the Fed will still likely cut rates 2 or 3 times in 2025 regardless of whether inflation falls or the labor market improves because it wants to try to lower the cost of servicing the federal deficit.
